Roommates

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Two fairly responsible students with good reputations at school moved in with me.  Before the move, I had had classes with both of them, so I knew that we got along well.  The first time we congregated as a group, the chemistry worked well - they obviously knew each other well enough.and got on.  I anticipated that there would be some friendly hangout please-don't get-mad-at-me-and-spill-all-my-secrets initial time.  But mostly it was them being friends while being polite to me.

That is NOT my idea of a good time.

Now please understand - I am not frustrated because they get on well.  I am happy that they are so comfortable with each other.  My problem is that it feels like they are trying to flaunt their relationship in my face, the same way a brand-conscious chick lays her wrist so the Tiffany and Co. dangly bit just happens to face her bracelet-less frenemy.  For example, it is their habit to refer to each other as friend.  "Friend, can you get me a glass of water?"  While also annoying, this tends to become awkward because I am not one of the friends.  Teh Egotist, can you slice me some bread while Friend gets the jam?"

Asdfgh.

Does anyone have a hole I can bury my head in?

Oh Jesus Christ. D: D: D:

Man, how much do I never want a roommate? SO MUCH. Being tense/fretful/cranky/anything is a million times worse when it's happening in what's supposed to be your safe space. /unhelpful.

I don't know. I mean, obviously you need revenge, but I suck at passive aggressiveness (and I've tried! Oh, how I've tried. We had Relatives over this week, can you tell.) and thus cannot advise you.

Can you manufacture a Situation and regretfully kick them out, and get some roommates who aren't dicks?

Hahaha. Q's suggestion is of course excellent.

so i guess this means they don't like you, huh?

i sort of feel like, as roommates, you're not actually responsible for friendship. like, they're just supposed to be civil to you (which they...aren't? are they?). i got lucky with mine i suppose, but i don't think i would really mind if i just had ones that would leave me alone.

i guess i mean, as soon as you accept the awkward nature of the situation, you can just become immunized against it, yes? idk. they ARE paying though, aren't they?

the whole Friend thing would be pretty terrible, though, in light of the facts.
